Hi, I’m Patrick Green—a husband, father of five, community member, and now a candidate for the Johnston School Board.

I’m running because I believe every student deserves the opportunity to thrive, and every voice in our community deserves to be heard. I want to see our schools succeed not by politicizing education—but by refocusing on what matters most: students, families, teachers, and informed choices.

My background is in communications and strategy, with a degree in English and Literature and graduate work in Media Studies. But my most important role is at home, where my wife and I have raised our five kids—each with different learning styles, interests, and needs. That experience has shown me the power of strong teachers, parent involvement, and supportive schools.

I’ve been active in civic life through bipartisan organizations like Iowans Supporting Israel, and I’ve regularly engaged elected officials to share my perspectives on education and policy. While I have no formal political background, I bring a calm, thoughtful voice to divisive issues and a commitment to restoring trust in public education. My experience in faith-based and nonprofit leadership has taught me how to listen well, ask better questions, and build consensus.
